Don’t miss seeing the butterfly because you’re focused on the cocoon.
Sometimes we get caught up in thinking we have to be somebody magnificent to do anything worth while. We see women doing all kind of cool things like running million dollar companies and we are over here scrubbing floors for the 3rd time today and in tears because we cannot handle one more thing. Don’t get caught up in the envy of their lives…the ones with the perfect hair, fancy clothes, nice car, and seeming like they have it all together. I’m sure they don’t. Remember, you’re only seeing their highlight reel and not the behind-the-scenes.
I’ve thought so much about Esther lately. She was raised by her uncle. She was chosen to be queen after going through strenuous tests. She approached the king boldly. Why? Because she was driven by God’s purpose for her life…to save her/His people. Was she afraid?? I’m sure. Her people were about to be destroyed. But she chose to follow the Lord no matter what it cost. She had influence because she focused on God and impact instead of showing off.
You have so much to offer, mama. You make a difference every single day even if you don’t realize it right now. You show up for your every day reality. You may think you are alone in the dark, but you aren’t. I know because I’ve walked in and am walking through some of the same places…you know the ones:
You aren’t good enough.
You will never amount to anything.
You? Do that? You’re crazy.
It won’t work so why even try?
Those are all lies, by the way.
Then there’s guilt.
Wondering why things are happening and when the flood waters are going to recede.
You ever asked who you even are?
I can answer that one.
You are God’s. And He has you.
Whatever hard times you’re going through. Whatever it is that makes you feel like the darkness is never going to let up and you are never going to see the light of day. Keep hanging on. I know. Easier said than done. Trust me. I am having to hang on to the promise that something beautiful will come from ashes too.
But I know one thing. God never lies. So He said it and it will be. In HIS time. Not mine.
